Gambling In Indonesia

Indonesia stretches between two continents, Oceania and Asia, and it’s comprised of more than 17,000 islands. It is the world’s 4th most populous country with population of approximately 255 million. When it comes to the religion, Indonesia is the most populous country with Muslim majority in the world, but Confucianism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Catholicism and Protestantism are also officially recognized religions in this sovereign island country. Knowing all these facts, you might wonder whether gambling in Indonesia is legal.

To cut the long story short, gambling, casinos, lotteries, betting, bingo and any similar pass-time activities are banned and illegal in Indonesia. But, despite the best efforts of the Indonesian government, online casinos (such as Situs Judi Poker) are incredibly popular in this mesmerizing country. Both table games and sports betting attract thousands of dollars in bets on a daily basis.

Due to the dominant religion of Islam, all forms of gambling are forbidden as they are considered evil, addicting and one of the causes for people not to fulfill their social responsibilities. For this reason, legal land-based casinos in Indonesia cannot be found, so players cannot officially enjoy their favorite games like poker, roulette, blackjack etc. However, illegal gambling operations are present in the country, despite the constant police raids. When it comes to online gambling, it’s forbidden as well. In addition, the government does its best to block any foreign gambling website. It remains unclear whether a player is prosecuted for playing at offshore online casinos.

In my opinion, it’s incredibly difficult to stop people to gamble and bet, no matter how hard the government tries. Somehow, we will always find the way to fulfill our needs and do what we want. Nevertheless, if you’re visiting Indonesia as a tourist, make sure you know all the consequences before entering any facility offering table games or sports betting. Avoiding any illegal activity would be highly recommended.
